Final Review of Beijing

Well what a day this was. You have to be patient here.
1st I got frisked by Tianmen Square security. Then we almost had our cameras taken away. Then before entering Maos Tomb I was stopped again. I had one group of guys grab me to take pictures like I was some celebrity. Then some lady walked up and said I had nice hair! Only in China. But honestly I didnt see any people of color and very few other westerners. Everywhere I went people stared and tried to say hi in English. I mean put me up on a float---I could have made a ton of money. That aside, what a day. Went to Tianamen Square site of the peoples rebellion. Then I saw the tomb and body of Mao. You couldnt take cameras in which was too bad. I thought that was history I saw of global proportions. I dont even know what to say. He was behind glass in a sharp casket and his face was quite red which I think had to be intentional. From there I took a stroll over to the Forbidden City which was incredible. Not sure if I will ever be over here again-probably so-but how can I ever forget this trip!

Soon time to fly away...

Back to reality soon. Packing up to fly home. In true US fashion my 5pm Sat plane which gets me home at 5pm on Sat lol is 90 minutes late. Typical Continental. Well the first thing Im going to do is get me some American food, dim sum, fried rice, spicy beef, I love it all, but it will be a few months before I want to smell Chinese food! And yes I ate pig snout, chicken feet and some other things less identifiable....
That aside there is nothing that can ever prepare you for a trip like this-no tour books, nothing. But it is an incredible country moving at rapid pace. In Shanghai with in a block of the hotel were at minimum 12 cranes putting up new skyscrapers. The government is building 100 new airports and the Chinese owned airlines are ordering 250 new planes a month. I took a flight from Shanghai to Bejing it was a A330 with almost 300 people on it. Eventually they told me they will fly these new double deck planes than can hold 800-1000 people.

Just like when England ceded global leadership to the US last century, watch out for China. They are no joke and with 1.5 billion people who dont mind working its gonna happen....

Shanghai--what a town

This city is incredible. In the city limits there are 19 million people. Skyscrapers as far as the naked eye can see. Massive. This is considered the crown jewel of China. They have everything here and is as sophisticated as NYC or any major western city. I have yet to see a part of China that looks "backwards". This is a very aggressive country. If feels more democatic than most democratic countries lol. There is a theatre across the street from me Mamma Mia and Lion King. Now imagine that in Chinese!
